The Kannon Hall has a long history as a place of local devotion and holds a special significance for the people in the area. Inside, visitors can see a beautiful statue of Kannon, which has a calming and healing effect on those who come to admire it.
The hall is built in the traditional Zen Buddhist style, with tall columns and a three-tiered square roof. It is surrounded by a corridor, and the front features a pair of kato windows. The four corner pillars are decorated with intricate carvings of peonies and clouds, adding to the hall’s beauty. Inside, there’s a raised platform (shumidan) with 16 statues of arhats placed on either side. In the back right corner of the hall, you’ll find a seated statue of the monk Daeo Tokumei, who played a key role in the hall’s reconstruction.
